Outdoor Bird is Inside Out if it had been set inside the mind of a writer. Swaddled and confronted by the characters she cannot seem to stop writing, Protagonist must investigate why she designed her companions as they are, and what they reveal about her path forward. This play sits with the very human habit of self-projection through irreverent, absurdist, and bitingly vulnerable language.

For this world-premiere production, Lila collaborated with playwright Megan Rivkin to design projections that amplified the text’s charming idiosyncracies.
